Zootropolis Review

You wouldn’t think to look it but Zootropolis is a film about racism, social tension and ambition. All her life, Judy Hopps wants to become a police officer. Yet a bunny has never been a police officer before – it’s considered too dangerous and is a job bigger, tougher animals. The predators, not the prey.

Strikingly beautiful and exciting to watch, the Zootropolis world is crafted into a city you would believe could really exist if it were populated with all these animals. From Mayor Lion (voiced by J.K. Simmons) running the show it’s elaborate and interesting.

It follows the story of Judy getting into the police force and all of the prejudice she faces against her determination to be the best she can be. If this sounds a little heavy don’t worry, it is well handled and will teach children (and adults) that it’s ok to be different and to follow your dreams.

Zootropolis is funny and witty, with some laugh out loud moments and some heartbreaking drama. It’s nice to see more quality from Disney without Pixar too. Highly recommended.
