Giotech G432 Gaming Headset Review
|Sitting towards the budget end of the scale, the Logitech G432 is a virtual surround sound headset that won’t break the bank. More often than not when a company try to grab a chunk of the budget market the quality suffers, so can Logitech avoid the low cost = low quality problem?
Well, not really. First of all the headset feels cheap, the plastics rub together a little a can start to creak when you’re playing. Considering these are far from noise-cancelling, that’s not a great thing to have going on. They’re comfortable to wear and sound decent enough, but you never feel like you’re wearing a top quality headset. As for that virtual surround sound it’s not too bad, but you won’t be fooling anyone into thinking it’s “true” surround sound, and it can more often than not just add a bit of reverb onto the sound, making it feel like you’re playing in a larger room with some space for the sound to breathe. it’s a nice option, but don’t rely on it to transform your gaming.
The microphone is the big let-down though, sounding tinny and more like a phone call than a gaming conversation. With better quality headsets upping the stakes in terms of general communication, this will be where you feel like the money has been saved, and as such your teammates might not enjoy you being around quite as much as the warmer sounds produced by more expensive kit.
So while it’s lower in cost and might be an option if you’re on a tight budget, you could easily spend a few more quid and get something considerably better. This isn’t as good as I’d hoped.
