Mantis Burn Racing Review (PS4)
|There’s a lot of fun to be had with Mantis Burn Racing, and whether you’re playing online or offline there’s always a strong feeling of “just one more…” which, when all is said and done, says much about the enjoyment you’ll get from the game.
A top down racer with a camera which made me feel a little sick at first, Mantis Burn Racing offers up several types of races for you to get stuck into, from standard races through to time trials and elimination events, the key message is the same: drive fast, drift smoothly and don’t use your boost when you’re approaching a sharp corner. Races are quick and often pretty intense, meaning that even a short session with the game can see you taking part in several races without barely stopping for breath, and the loading times are short enough to prevent you from losing the buzz between events.
The music is a bit drab – we found ourselves heading to Spotify on the PS4 and making our own soundtracks – but the rest of the sounds have a nice, cheesy arcade style to them which is fine. Visually the game is pretty nice for what it is, and while it’s not going to be compared in the same sentence as Project Cars (except in this sentence, obviously) it’s not aiming to be that kind of visual affair – the graphics are every bit as good as they need to be for an arcade racer like this.
So Mantis Burn Racing is a fun, fast racer that is just the thing for some quick games between Skyrim marathons.
