Special Correspondents Review

There’s an argument to suggest that anything Ricky Gervais touches turns to gold. You only need to look at The Office, Extras and Derek to see just how incredible some of his writing has been. And so it was with great anticipation that I sat down in front of Special Correspondents to see what this Netflix exclusive had to offer.

As it turns out, it was a bit underwhelming. I mean, it was fine, it wasn’t offensively bad or anything and there were a few funny moments, but between an unconvincing and highly predictable story, some less than stellar acting and a general feeling of averageness I watched this through without ever really caring for it.

The David Brent movie is out soon, and I really hope it serves as a return to form for Gervais, because this wasn’t one of his high points.
