How to Build a Car by Adrian Newey Review

Let’s go straight to the obvious here: anyone with an interest in Formula 1 should be buying this book, without question. Adrian Newey has been the mind behind some of the all-time great F1 cars, and this books takes you through a long career which hit its peak (some might say) with the unbelievable Red Bull cars that sent Sebastian Vettel to four world championships in a relatively young team. Throughout this book we’re given stories from Newey’s various teams over the years, some fascinating insights into the workings of an F1 car (with some incredible details about the aerodynamics especially) and some tricky to follow but still amazing sketches and diagrams to help explain the well-written text.

I’d worried that this might be a bit hard to follow, a bit wordy or maybe over-complicated, but it’s none of those things. It’s a wonderful record of one of the great careers in F1, and without a doubt something that you should be reading if you’re a motorsport fan.
