Norman Comic Book #1 Review

Norman is a cute young boy, who likes to pass his time by killing other children. Yeah. I know. Despite the very friendly looking visual style of this comic, the tone is set very early on when it becomes quite apparent there’s going to be a decent amount of killing going on, but this suffers a little from the same issue many new series have in their first edition, in so much as the storyline hasn’t really got going yet. It’s a bit all over the place, but I’m happy to put that down to letting us know who the main characters are. Visually Norman is fantastic, and as a reading experience it’s hard to beat – it looks gorgeous.

So it’s difficult to know exactly what to think so far. It certainly has potential; the combination of cute artwork with 8 years olds who enjoy butchering others could be a hit, but I suspect we might need to see a bit more before knowing for certain.
