The Good Dinosaur Review
|As the latest film from the genius minds at Pixar, The Good Dinosaur certainly has a lot to live up to. But on the whole it does exactly that, with some incredibly emotional and moving scenes during the journey taken by the unlikely dinosaur/human child pairing. Set in a world where the dinosaurs didn’t get wiped out and live among humans, Arlo the dinosaur and his newly befriended caveboy companion end up miles from Arlo’s home and make the long trek back. You can probably imagine there are themes of friendship, anguish and love which crop up along the way, and it’s these themes which seem to overtake the story, which seemed a little thin in places.
But visually? Wow. The Good Dinosaur continues Pixar’s constant stake-upping in terms of visual effects, and you’ll be hard pushed to find an animation looking this good elsewhere.
So it’s a very good film, but not for its story. What is does give you, however, is a fantastic film experience, and for that reason alone it’s worth a look.
I enjoyed this, a bit long winded in places but the usual Pixar magic was there!
